Major and minor river crossings
Crossing solutions
River, Road & Railway Pipeline Crossings
A crossing is planned as an interface within the pipeline programme, not as an isolated bore. HPL coordinates constructability, work areas, drilling or other selected methods, product-pipe readiness, testing, tie-ins and reinstatement around the adjoining construction fronts.
Execution scope
What the work covers.
- 01Reconnaissance, survey and crossing-profile inputs
- 02Method and work-area planning around site constraints
- 03HDD pilot, reaming and pullback operations
- 04Product-pipe string preparation and inspection
- 05Tie-ins, ducts, testing and crossing records
- 06Reinstatement and interface close-out
Relevant delivery environments

Practical questions
Understanding the scope.
Is HDD always the selected crossing method?
No. The appropriate method depends on the crossing, ground conditions, available work area, environmental and authority requirements, pipeline parameters and the contract design.
What must be coordinated before pullback?
Typical interfaces include bore readiness, drilling-fluid condition, product-pipe welding and inspection, coating integrity, rollers and handling, pull-head preparation, communications and tie-in planning.
